Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
'No . 2921, reports as follows :
Communication No. 2921 dated October 2, 1991 from Fire Chief request
Council accept donation of CB base station and hand-held portable
unit from Waikoloa Volunteer Fire Fighters, c/o Mr . Butch Gomes,
Fire Chief . Further states, the donation was done in good faith
with no preferential treatment expected by the donor .
Also transmits copy of letter dated September 9 , 1991 from Waikoloa
Volunteers to Fire Chief Ayala which informs donated CB base station
with antenna be used in firehouse Station 14 , South Kohala, and
portable unit by fire engine (truck) to respond to any boat distress
calls they respond to.
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donation of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any
interest in real estate.
Your Committee on Finance recommends acceptance of the donation of
CB base station and hand-held portable unit and that a letter of
appreciation be forwarded to Waikoloa Volunteer Fire Fighters, P. O.
Box 3013 W.V.S. , Kamuela, Hawaii 96743 .
