Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 474 , reports
as follows :
Bill 474 proposes to amend Ordinance 91-50, the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1991-92, by increasing revenues in General Fund Account
No . 3301 . 61, Federal Grants - Sobriety Checkpoint Exp. , by
$5, 500 . 00, and appropriating same to the following account :

010-201-5218 . 84-115 Sobriety Checkpoint-1990/Misc . $5, 500 . 00
Contract Services
Communication No . 2779 , dated August 20, 1991, from the Finance
Director, transmits said Bill 474 and other departmental
justification and explains the subject $5, 500 . 00 will enable the
Police to increase the number of sobriety checkpoints from 31 to 45 .
A letter from the State Department of Transportation' s Motor Vehicle
Safety Office dated July 8, 1991 states the "HCPD Sobriety
Checkpoint Expansion application is approved and the grant increased
by $5, 500 from $12, 000 to $17, 500 and will allow HCPD to increase
checkpoints by 14 ."
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 474 and recommends that it pass first reading .
