Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 473 , reports
as follows :
Bill 473 proposes to amend Ordinance 91-50, the Operating Budget for
Fiscal Year 1991-92, by increasing revenues in General Fund Account
No. 3607 . 00, Contributions/Donations from Private Sources by $25 . 00,
and appropriating same to the following account:

EDUC-RECR-Scientif Supplies
Communication No . 2778 from the Finance Director dated August 20,
1991 explains the subject $25 . 00 donation is from Mrs . M.V. Fujimoto
of MVF Enterprises , to the Police Department Project D.A.R.E.
Your Committee also reviewed the Departmental Request for Council
Action, copy of Mrs . Fujimoto ' s check, and request from Chief of
Police to Mayor as supplied by the Finance Director .
Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter states, "the Council on behalf
of the County may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or
other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real
estate. "
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the intent and purpose
of Bill 473 and recommends that it pass first reading and that a
letter of appreciation be forwarded to Mrs . M.V. Fujimoto, P. O.
Box 764, Capt . Cook, HI 96704 .
