Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication
'No. 2600, reports as follows :
Communication No. 2600, dated May 23, 1991, is from Parks and
Recreation Director Charmaine Kamaka, seeking Council approval to
accept a "Brother" Word Processor with accessories being donated by
Mr . James M. Walling to the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. The
word processor is valued at approximately $830 .
Your Committee members questioned if the Administration employed any
methods to analyze the usefulness, condition and future costs for
repair, maintenance and supplies for equipment donated to the County.
Pursuant to Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations .
Your Committee on Finance recommends forwarding Communication
No . 2600 to the Council requesting favorable consideration be given
for acceptance of the donation and requests the Director of Parks
and Recreation be present at the Council meeting to address those
administration analysis of donations as cited in this report . We
further recommend that, upon acceptance of the donation, a letter of
appreciation be forwarded to Mr. James M. Walling, P. O. Box 636,
Pahoa, Hawaii 96778 .
