RESOLUTION NO. 322 00
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO
EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF
HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS, STATE OF HAWAII.
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii (hereinafter "County") and the Department of
Hawaiian Home Lands (hereinafter "DHHL") wishes to confirm the basic
responsibilities and agreements between the parties relating to County services; and
WHEREAS, the County and DHHL seeks settlement of delinquent real property
taxes owed by DHHL's homestead lessees to the County; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii has by prior actions taken on
November 30, 1994 and June 27, 1995 authorized the acceptance of a compromise offer
by DHHL, to accept the payment of delinquent taxes, with the County waiving penalties
and interest thereon;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL of the County of
Hawaii, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said memorandum of agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this resolution to DHHL, and the Department of Finance of the County
of Hawaii.
