RESOLLJ'I'ION NO. J ~ S 9
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE REMOVAL OF PARKING METER
HEADS WITHIN THE AREA AFFECTED BY THE MORATORIUM IN
DOWNTOWN HILO.
WHEREAS, on July 1, 1998, the Council adopted Resolution No. 288-98,
which waived the payment of a coin or coins pursuant to Chapter 24, Section 24-216
(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983, for cone-year moratorium period beginning at
8:00 a.m. on July 1, 1998, and ending at 4:00 p.m. on June 30, 1999 for all metered
parking stalls in the downtown Hilo area, excluding parking metered stalls at the
County and State buildings, and immediately adjacent to the Federal Building (on
Kinoole Street, Wailuku Drive, and Kekaulike Street); and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that removing the parking meter
heads within the areas affected by the moratorium will clarify the parking time limit
requirements in downtown Hilo.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it requests the Department of Public Works to remove the
parking meter heads within the areas affected by the parking meter moratorium set
forth in Resolution No. 288-98.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this
resolution to Mayor Stephen Yamashiro, the Department of Public Works, and the Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association.
