HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0081.000 1996-1998 . 9 ZO Z ~ ~Z m n THE HAWAII COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION ~ ~ STATE OF HAWAII W ~ p~p T SUBJECT: STATUS OF HAWAII COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMIS;!rTON rv TO: ALL CONCERNED During the regular quarterly meeting of the commission on December 5, 1996 at Waimea, Hawaii, the following actions were taken to implement the necessary changes to improve the licensing of TAXICABS within the County of Hawaii: 1. Cease to issue any further licenses and/or transfer of present licenses. 2. Divide Hawaii County into an EAST HAWAII (NAALEHU TO MUD LANE/LAKELAND SUBDIVISION) and WEST HAWAII (WEST OF MUD LAND/LAKELAND SUB-DIVISION TO HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW ESTATES) as taxicab association districts with each association having a designated representative. 3. Hold all future meetings of the Hawaii County Transportation Commission in KAMUELA, to ease the burden of transportation for all persons wishing to attend the commission meetings 4. Hire two (2) licensed private investigators, one (1) for each area as mentioned above and reporting directly to the HAWAII COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION. They will be paid out of the fund generated by the collection of annual taxi cab fees. 5. Update Chapter 18-HAWAII COUNTY CODE. There are too many amendments and/or changes. 6. Update ALL forms, dates, page numbers and identify exhibits. 7. Do not accept improperly filled out applications and have a set of instructions issued with EVERY application packet. Reduce the number of members serving on the commission from ten to seven, and/ or five, with a quorem of five, and/or three. 9. Do not have a set meeting date. Meetings are at the call of the chairperson, whomever it might be. 10. If there is not enough support to make these changes and bring the commission into line with modern business practices, for efficient operations and enforcement, so as to enhance our taxicab industry into a proud and prosperous group of people presenting a united front to their customers at all times. The rules, regulations and /or other directives have not been updated since 1990. 11.
