Box 2391 KEALAKEKUA, HI 96750 (808) 322-18 1 2 Fnx: (808) 322 -263b December 2, 1998 Mr. James Arakaki County Council Chairperson 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Dear Council Chairperson Arakaki and Council: Our program will, once again, organize a Senior Citizens Health Fair in 1999. We are planning two fairs, one in West Hawaii on May 5 and East Hawaii on November 19 and hope to service more people if we divide the island in two. West Hawaii's Health Fair will take care of seniors from Hawaiian Oceanview to North and South Kohala and East Hawaii from Honokaa to Naalehu. It was a tremendous help for the seniors to have their transportation subsidized by County funding last year. Transportation is our biggest problem in all the events that we plan for our seniors. We are asking for your council's support and approval to subsidize the transportation cost so we can bring in as many seniors as possible to this valuable and much requested for Health Fairs We anticipate the use of three buses for each of the events and the average cost per bus is $575.00. The senior citizens and the Elderly program thanks all of you for your kind consideration and look forward to your favorable and positive response. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Laverne at 322 -1812 or call Harold at 961 -8777. Sincerely, Harold Bugado Operations Director i Laverne R.
