Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred:
Comm. 1212: CLEARING OF VACANT LOTS
From Council Chairman Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated
April 25, 1983, transmitting a letter from Norman &
Jean Bates regarding the clearing of vacant lots and
suggests the PWC study and make recommendations to
include areas outside the City of Hilo.
1212.1: From Nancy Frazier, President, Kona Outdoor Circle,
dated July 1, 1983, urging the Council to initiate
the necessary action to amend the County Code in
such a way that residents in other populated areas
of the island will have some recourse under the law
in dealing with situations where property is not
maintained and is potentially dangerous.
1212:2: From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi, dated November 28,
(Bill 1050) 1983, submitting an amendment of the Hawaii County
Code Chapter 20, Article 2, Unoccupied Lots, to
include the entire County regarding a property
owner's responsibility in maintaining their lots.
The process of referral has been modified to have
the Council refer the complaint directly to the
Mayor's Office rather than the Police and Fire
Departments or the State Department of Health;
recommends Council pprove and adopt Bill 1050 on first reading.
