Subject: Please withdraw incinerator solicitation!
Aloha County Council,
I am firmly opposed to the mass burn incinerator "solution" to our waste problem. Here
are some reasons that are important to consider:
- Mass burn incinerators are extremely polluting, destroying our beautifully clean air.
- Locking our county into a contract requiring that we provide a set amount of waste
removes incentive to reduce our waste stream.
- Our green waste would be better used to cycle nutrients back into our land and farms.
I urge you to withdraw the search for mass burn incineration and instead pursue options
that make best use of recyclables and compostables, while encouraging the island to
minimize generation of unusable waste.
