Support
I urge the Hawaii County Council to approve Resolution 454-14,the adoption of the Pahoa Village
Design Guidelines.
The Pahoa community nearly unanimously agree that preserving the character of Pahoa is one of their
prime concerns. These Guidelines have been developed to reflect that goal. The Guidelines are
architecturally sound and have both the guidance and the flexibility necessary to promote development
that is consistent with maintaining the character of Pahoa.
Development is rapidly increasing in the Pahoa Village. We need these Guidelines now to ensure that
current and future projects have the guidance they need to develop plans that will reflect the look of
Pahoa and remain consistent with the Puna Community Development Plan and Pahoa Village Plan.
