Thank }~ou for }our support of Phase I -the covered court building itself. Ao~c rce need
toilets. storage and Police Substation. I request ~ ou to include that in the current budget.
as ~ ou mad' kno~~~. Cooper Center Council. a connnunitc non-profit, has operated
~ olcano Communit}~ Park. in cooperation ith the Department of Parks and Recreation.

program of communih~ council operatin_ agreemait~, ith the Counh~. The potential for
sa~~ings is huge, as are the benefits to local comnumitie~ in 'b~~ nership ~ and "sense of
place.~~ These intangibles ha~~e concrete benefit;. such as less sraPfiti. fencer }~outh
problems, communities that are more attractive m ins c:unent.
I hope ice can continue to expand and improve this c~~opcration. I suggest that further
savings mat be had bt~ procidiug the monec for thr 7'hase I] improrements directl~~ to
Cooper Center Council. as a ~~rant. ~r ith v~hich ti~ c gold continue to cork elosel}~ ~~~ith
the Department of Parks and Recreation to insure n c meet all requirements. In that Ica}'.
tce can leverage the mone}~ kith communitc support to do even more.
