Waimea Preservation Association(WPA) is the sponsoring non-profit in collaboration with the Historic Spencer House project committee to preserve a culturally and historic cornerstone structure in the center of town for local families and visitors alike to meet and gain information important to their heritage, cultural, safety and well-being. The addition of CERT presence would wholeheartedly enhance public awareness, participation and education necessary for our North Hawai'i communities to be prepared for any interruption in our quality of life caused by an all-encompassing emergency situation. Waimea Preservation Association (WPA) is a community-based non-profit organization, started in 1993, dedicated to preserving the character and history of Waimea and encouraging community awareness in the rich cultural heritage of the Waimea district. In our past, we have housed the start of such events as Old Hawai'i on Horseback, Real Beef by Real Cowboys, Waimea Main Street and Waimea Visitor Attraction Program. We are currently sponsoring Waimea Trails and Greenways project and the Historic Spencer House project. We look forward to working with CERT and training more families on citizen and community interaction with our government partners to provide sufficient preparation in case of such emergency events. Thank you for your consideration on this resolution success and we stand ready to do our part in the success of CERT.
