Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. 508-14,
reports as follows:
Resolution No. 508-14, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Joseph K. Kamelamela, via
Communication No. 1008 dated August 25, 2014, authorizes the grant of easement for access
purposes affecting Waikaumalo-Maulua Homesteads Road adjacent to TMKS: 3-2-002:047;
3-2-002:046, 3-2-003:008, and 3-2-003:003, North Hilo, Island of Hawai`i, State of Hawai`i to
Paul Dolnick.
Committee Member Brenda Ford asked for clarification on the location of the road in relation to the
Wailuku Stream. Mr. Kamelamela confirmed that the stream is underneath the road.
Mr. Kamelamela also clarified that the subject road is not being dedicated to the County but rather the
County is entering into an easement agreement to allow Mr. Dolnick access to the road.
Committee Member Valerie Poindexter stated that she has been working with Mr. Dolnick on this
easement, and thanked Mr. Kamelamela for working through the process of getting it granted to
Mr. Dolnick.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No. 508-14, and recommends its adoption.
