REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: September 16, 2014 Re: Comm.No. 1000 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1000, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 1000,transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated August 21, 2014, requests review <br /> and confirmation of the nomination of Mr. Melvin Ventura to the Tax Board of Review. <br /> A lifelong resident of Hawai`i, Mr. Ventura has been employed by the Hawai`i Community Federal Credit <br /> Union for the last 20 years, and is currently the Executive Vice President. <br /> Mr. Ventura is a past member and president of the Rotary Club of Kona Mauka. He has also been a member <br /> of the Kona Jaycees and the Hualalai Academy Advisory Group. Mr. Ventura states that he is not affiliated <br /> with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2018. <br /> Deputy Planning Director Robert Command came before the Finance Committee and provided background <br /> information, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested Council's favorable action of this appointment. <br /> Mr. Ventura appeared before the Finance Committee for questions.
