JNtr os......•.. <br /> • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •' �'' �•- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ♦Tl 0'f•M,•1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 522 14 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br /> INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF <br /> PUBLIC SAFETY, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, TO DONATE A VEHICLE TO <br /> THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Public Safety's Hawaii Community <br /> Correctional Center (HCCC) provides labor assistance for various County projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the HCCC has recently provided help with the County's Department of <br /> Environmental Management's move into a new location, with the Kapulena fencing project, <br /> with the Kapoho cleanup (topical storm Iselle), and other projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Public Safety has no vehicle to <br /> transport laborers to project worksites; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii provides a County van and driver to bring workers <br /> to, and return from project sites; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii's Mass Transit Agency has a 1994 van that was <br /> scheduled for disposal by auction; and <br /> WHEREAS, the transfer of this surplus van to the State of Hawaii Department of <br /> Public Safety would provide HCCC with much needed transportation and eliminate the need <br /> for the County to provide the transportation stated above; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br /> departments obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or <br /> state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by <br /> law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects <br /> being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, <br />
