COUNTY OF HAWAII (� '--'�'�/i• STATE OF HAWAII • - o_ 4rE 4.11;zP RESOLUTION NO. 530 14 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KA HALE 0 NA KEIKI PRESCHOOL FOR AN EDUCATIONAL SITE VISIT. WHEREAS, reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R's) are at the heart of the "Go Green" global movement, which are essential to conserving the amount of natural resources we use and are simple steps to help fight against global warming; and WHEREAS, the Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Preschool, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, feels that children learn by doing and observing, and that it would be beneficial and fun for their children at the preschool to see what really happens at a redemption center; and WHEREAS, a site visit to a redemption center would give the children the opportunity to see how people drop off their recycled cans and how it gets weighed, crushed, and then processed into making new material; and WHEREAS, the children would also get to observe the financial transaction between the customer and employee; and WHEREAS, educating the children on the 3R's will, hopefully, inspire them to "Go Green" and make them feel good about protecting the environment and earth; and WHEREAS, funds are needed to help with expenses for this educational site visit, which will include the purchase of books regarding the 3R's, bus transportation, and lunch; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Environmental Management to provide a grant to Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Preschool for an educational site visit; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:
