RESOLUTION NO. 533 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII COUNTY
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR THE PURCHASE OF CITRIC ACID
FOR THE NORTH AND SOUTH KONA, KA`U, AND GREATER VOLCANO AREAS
OF COUNCIL DISTRICTS 6, 7, AND 8.
WHEREAS, the Kona communities have experienced an infestation of coqui frogs and
are challenged with the noise and nuisance that these frogs are causing; and
WHEREAS, the coqui frogs negatively affect Hawai`i Island's economy, environment
and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) will use the
funds to provide citric acid at a reasonable cost; and
WHERAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting county department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service,
equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to HCEOC purchase citric acid
for the North and South Kona, Ka`u, and greater Volcano areas of Council Districts 6, 7, and 8;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC —Contingency Relief $2,000
CREDITED TO:
010.161.5161.22 Department of Research and Development $2,000

(Purchase of citric acid for North and South Kona, Ka'u, and
greater Volcano areas of Council Districts 6,7, and 8)
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
