RESOLUTION NO. 547 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY TO ASSIST WITH IMPLEMENTING THE COURTHOUSE DOG
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney seeks to mitigate emotional
challenges that victims and witnesses encounter throughout the judicial process and to treat each
invidividual with compassion, sensitivity, and respect; and
WHEREAS, since 2003, the national Courthouse Dog Program has provided trained
canines to comfort sexually abused children, victims of violent crimes, and traumatized
witnesses in order to promote justice with compassion; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to help cover expenses associated with implementing the
Courthouse Dog Program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amounts are hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
