COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION NO. 549 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KOHALA
CENTER, INC. FOR COQUI FREE WAIMEA.
WHEREAS, the Kohala Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organziation located in
Waimea; and
WHEREAS, Coqui Free Waimea is working to prevent coqui frogs from infesting
Waimea by both education and eradication; and
WHEREAS, coqui frogs arrived in Waimea via plants and vehicles from infested areas
of the island; and
WHEREAS, coqui frogs have no predators, parasites, or diseases in Hawai`i to reduce
their population; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Kohala Center, Inc. to
help keep Waimea coqui frog free; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
