REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON FINANCE DATE: September 30, 2014 Re: Comm.No. 1038/Res.No. 522-14 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 9:08 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 522-14, reports as follows: Resolution No. 522-14,transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 1038, dated September 12, 2014, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai`i Department of Public Safety, pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes 46-7, to donate a vehicle to the State of Hawai`i Department of Public Safety. The agreement provides for the donation of a 1994 van from the Mass Transit Agency to transport Hawai`i Community Correctional Center laborers to County project worksites. Council Members Ilagan and Eoff expressed their gratitude to the Office of the Mayor. Kevin Dayton, Executive Assistant to the Mayor, was commended for his creativity in locating a vehicle to help support the Hawai`i Department of Public Safety. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
