RE: Resolution no. 500 14&Resolution no. 501 14
Please accept this testimony in support of both Resolution no. 500 14 and Resolution no. 501 14 relating to
truth-in-labeling for Hawaii grown coffees.
Our coffee is known worldwide for its high quality. Truth-in-labeling measures will protect this reputation,along
with the$30 million that our coffee industry contributes to Hawaii's economy annually,and the thousands of
jobs the industry provides. We must ensure that labeling is clear and confusion-free so that consumers are not
disappointed and products meet their expectations.
I have in the past and will continue to support and propose legislation to this end at the State
Legislature. Passage of these proposed resolutions by the County will show members of the legislature that our
Council is united in supporting fair and truthful labeling laws, and will assist in moving these measures forward.
