BILL NO. 307
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 6, SECTION 24 -287,
SCHEDULE 35 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED),
RELATING TO PASSENGER LOADING ZONES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. This proposed loading zone will provide a designated loading /unloading
area for the Connections Public Charter School and will be in effect each school day. The loading
zone consists of converting eleven (11) Kamehameha Avenue storefront parking stalls to an aisle to
be used for student drop off. School employees will be responsible for the setup and dismantling of
the loading zone each school day. The loading zone, which will be in operation prior to the opening
of any of the shops in the area, received the support of the Downtown Improvement Association.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24 -287, schedule 35.
Passenger loading zones, paragraph (c), South Hilo, is amended by adding the following new item
and renumbering as required:
"( ) Kamehameha Avenue storefront parking lot southwest (mauka) side one
hundred sixty -six feet northwest of Haili Street and extending one hundred fifty-six feet in the
northwesterly direction between the hours of 6.00 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. on school days only.
SECTION 3. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring
need not be included.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof
to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application,
and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
