A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AMERICAN RED
CROSS, HAWAII STATE CHAPTER, FOR RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING OF
VOLUNTEERS.
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross, Hawaii State Chapter, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that assists residents in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery; and
WHEREAS, the mobilization and response to Tropical Storm Iselle highlighted the need
for more resources to recruit and train volunteers on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the American Red Cross,
Hawaii State Chapter, for the recruitment and training of volunteers in Council District 4; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
