RESOLUTION NO. 571 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AMERICAN RED
CROSS, HAWAII STATE CHAPTER TO RECRUIT AND TRAIN VOLUNTEERS TO
PROVIDE DISASTER RELIEF FOR HAWAII ISLAND.
WHEREAS, a need has been identified for the recruitment and training of individuals to
provide disaster relief for the community of Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross, Hawaii State Chapter is a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization and has provided and continues to provide our island with volunteers to assist the
community through the preparedness, response and recovery cycles of disaster; and
WHERAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting county department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service,
equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to recruit and train volunteers to
provide disaster relief for Hawaii Island; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

CREDITED TO:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
