No. 1082/Res. No. 553-14 <br />Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. 553-14, <br />reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 553-14, transmitted by Public Works Director Warren H.W. Lee, via Communication <br />No. 1082 dated September 10, 2014, grants a variance from Chapter 3, Section 3-58 (c), Hawaii <br />County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), to allow one wall sign on 75-146 Sarona Road, <br />Tax Map Key: 7-5-007:009 (Zoned "U" CG -20, Kailua Village Special Design District). <br />The owner of the property, Kona Hospitality, LLC, is requesting a sign variance for a wall sign to be <br />placed on the building at approximately nine feet above the second floor finish level along Sarona Road <br />frontage. The proposed wall sign is 12 square feet in area and includes an "H" symbol which will be no <br />more than 21 inches taller than the code limitation of 9 inches. <br />Mr. Kern confirmed Public Works Plan Examining Manager Neil Erickson's statement that the <br />requested variance only applies to the "H" symbol which is no more than 21 inches taller than the code <br />limitation and that the overall signage is in compliance with the code.
