A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for 3 /4 Ton Crew Cab, 6
passenger pickup Truck for a period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management,
Solid Waste Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Solid Waste Division is requesting to lease a 3/4 Ton Crew Cab Pickup Truck to be used for transporting
freight, supplies and workers from various baseyards and transfer stations islandwide.
The current truck is 18 years old and has very high mileage. It has been deemed unrepairable and
condemned by the Automotive Division. Increase in productivity requires proper equipment/vehicles with
increased passenger capacities. The truck is used on a regular basis for transporting work crews to job sites.
The estimated cost for this type of equipment $45,000 each, with an estimated monthly lease payment of
$800.
Funding for the lease is included in the fiscal year 14-15 budget as a Liftgate Truck. We request to use those
funds for the lease of this equipment as the Crew Cab Pickup has taken a higher priority. This equipment will
be lease financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year lease.
