Re: Resolution for multi-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year for a new
multi-year lease agreement for two boom trucks for the Department of Environmental
Management. This equipment will be used to pick up green waste, white goods and other bulky
items at transfer stations and other locations. The estimated lease is approximately $2,900 per
month for each unit. The County will own the vehicle at the end of this five year lease.

A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for 2 Boom Trucks with
Hydraulic Grapple for a period of five (5) years for the Department of Environmental Management, Solid
Waste Division.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Solid Waste Division is requesting to lease 2 Boom Trucks with Hydraulic Grapple to pick up green
waste, white goods, and other bulky items left behind at transfer stations and illegally dumped at other
facilities.
With increased population growth in all districts, there has been a large increase in disposal of large items.
This requires removal in a timely manner. Current practice of lifting manually has caused several employee
injuries. The Department of Health requires that these items be diverted from the landfills and be disposed of
properly at salvage facilities. These items include but are not limited to white goods, appliances, greenwaste,
trees, vehicle parts, wood pallets, etc. Purchase of these boom trucks will address the timely pickup in the
covered districts. It will also reduce the risk of employee injuries.
Purchase price estimated at $165,000 each, the estimated lease is $2,900 each per month.
Funding for the lease is included in the fiscal year 14-15 budget . This equipment will be lease financed such
that the County will own the equipment at the end of the five year lease.
