RESOLUTION NO. 587 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CHILD & FAMILY
SERVICE TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES FOR THE WEST HAWAII DOMESTIC ABUSE
SHELTER.
WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Domestic Abuse Shelter provides a safe haven for
victims of domestic violence and has identified the need to purchase basic supplies to
temporarily house adults and children; and
WHEREAS, Child & Family Service, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operates the
West Hawaii Domestic Abuse Shelter; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Child & Family Service to purchase
supplies for the West Hawaii Domestic Abuse Shelter; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
