RESOLUTION NO. 588 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR
THE 2015 PRINCE KUHIO HO`OLAULE`A.
WHEREAS, this year's Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a is scheduled for March 28, 2015, at
the West Hawaii Civic Center to celebrate and honor the legacy of Prince Jonah Kuhio
Kalaniana`ole Pi`ikoi, who was the first royal native Hawaiian delegate to the United States
Congress; and
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and cosponsors the
Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a with the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 promotes unity by establishing social, educational,
recreational, medical, and cultural services, programs, and infrastructure that assist the residents
of Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service,
equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses
associated with the 2015 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
