A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `O KA`U KAKOU FOR
THE INSTALLATION OF A KIOSK AT NA`ALEHU PARK.
WHEREAS, the Ka`u Scenic Byway Committee is coordinating efforts to enhance the
visitor experience by promoting Ka`u and its natural beauty, and one of its initiatives is to place
informational signs and kiosks to educate the public about Ka`u's history, cultural events, and
activities; and
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting
community activities in the district of Ka`u; and
WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou will be working in partnership with the Ka`u Scenic Byway
Committee to install a kiosk at Na`alehu Park; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has agreed to allow the kiosk to be
placed in Na` alehu Park; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to `O Ka`u Kakou for the installation
of a kiosk at Na`alehu Park; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
