RESOLUTION NO. 592 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE PERSONAL WATERCRAFTS,
RESCUE SLEDS, TRAILERS, PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT, AND
MISCELLANEOUS HARDWARE FOR THE OCEAN SAFETY DIVISION OF THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Ocean Safety Division of the Hawaii Fire Department is starting a
rescue program using personal watercrafts outfitted for ocean rescues; and
WHEREAS, the use of personal watercrafts for ocean rescues increases the safety of the
community and Ocean Safety personnel by decreasing the response time of rescuers to render aid
to those in distress; and
WHEREAS, the Ocean Safety Division of the Hawaii Fire Department has identified
the need for funds to purchase personal watercrafts, rescue sleds, trailers, personal protection
equipment, and miscellaneous hardware for Ocean Safety personnel in West Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Fire Department to purchase personal watercrafts, rescue sleds, trailers, personal
protection equipment, and miscellaneous hardware; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
