A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MICRONESIANS
UNITED -BIG ISLAND FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO
PACIFIC ISLANDER YOUTH CAREER DAY.
WHEREAS, Micronesians United -Big Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
seeks to empower Micronesians for greater self - reliance and to educate Micronesians and the
Hawaii Island community about their respective cultures, rights, and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, Micronesians United -Big Island, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney,
and the Pacific Islander Student Center of the University of Hawaii at Hilo sponsored the annual
Pacific Islander Youth Career Day on October 25, 2014, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo; and
WHEREAS, the Pacific Islander Youth Career Day reached out to Pacific Islander high
school students with the intent of inspiring hope and setting goals for their future; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Micronesians United -Big Island to
reimburse the cost for folders, conference materials, and T -shirts for the Pacific Islander Youth
Career Day; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
