RESOLUTION NO. 603 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAUL MORGAN
FOUNDATION FOR THE PAHOA `GHANA FUN DAY.
WHEREAS, the Paul Morgan Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable
organization; and
WHEREAS, in recent months the people of Puna have endured an unprecedented string
of natural disasters from the land, the sea and the sky in the form of a tropical storm and a lava
flow; and
WHEREAS, the Paul Morgan Foundation is organizing a Pahoa `Ghana Fun Day,
scheduled for January that will celebrate the resiliency of the Puna community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2- 139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department /agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Paul Morgan Foundation
for Pahoa `Ghana Fun Day; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
