Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution
No. 566-14 reports as follows:
Resolution No. 566-14, transmitted by Councilmember Brenda Ford, via Communication No.
1109, dated October 20, 2014, urges the Department of Parks and Recreation of the Comity of
I lawari to create a plaque for the new gymnasium and shelters honoring representative Robert
"Bob" N. Herkes and principal Laurence J. Capellas, Sr.
Ms. Ford explained that the purpose of this resolution is to ask the Department of Parks and
Recreation to put up the signage and have two plaques explaining why each of the honorees
should be honored in the joint naming of the facilities. Ms. Ford also stated that the resolution
allows the Department of Parks and Recreation and the families and friends of the honorees the
ability to change the statements on the plaque should it not meet their requirements.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 566-14, and recommends its adoption.
