HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0976.004 2012-2014As a citizen of this community, I want to know where my elected officials stand on issues that come before them. Elected officials are accountable to the electorate and must have the opportunity to go on record, if they so desire, during an official legislative session. Whether voicing a minority or majority opinion, elected officials should have at least one opportunity to state their concerns and position. One go- around is the minimum owed to the public. Certainly, time limits and other procedures should also be allowed to keep order during the proceedings. The stifling of minority views by the majority does not make for a transparent and accountable process.
