Aloha Mai kakou, my name is Yuri Zhuraw, I am a student in the college of Agriculture at UH Hilo and I have been
farming in Hamakua for seven years now. It is evident in our farming community that we must protect and conserve our
island's resources if we are to prosper into the future. As a farmer I recognize valuable resources like our green waste
system here on the big island. It is important to maintain the quality of our air and water when considering an
incinerator plant. We have a moral imperative to our future generations to make the right decisions when dealing with
our resources and environment that they will one day inherit. Instead of polluting our clean air and environment we
should incentivize recycling of green waste with a thermophilic compost facility for farmers, gardeners and the public. In
the composting process we improve the quality of our resource while eliminating pests like the little red fire ant.
