I have been a marine aquarium collector and wholesaler for over 22 years. I have traveled the world
as a consultant for Marine collection facilities, as an expert in handling and shipping techniques.
As an owner of one of the largest Marine aquarium wholesalers in the world, I first had get to see
fish arrive to my facility on a daily basis. Additionally, I am involved directly with the issuing of
credits for any losses incurred by our customers during the shipping process. I feel that the claims
made by the proponents of Bill 318 do not have accurate information, as their claims seem
astronomically high, compared to the firsthand knowledge that I have had with receiving, holding
and shipping Live Aquarium fish.
In my opinion, the packing methodology, currently used for Hawaiian Aquarium fish, causes no
greater stress or losses to the fish, than those methods being used by other countries and fisheries
around the world. We regularly have healthy fish arrive from Hawaii.
