My message to the Committee:
Aloha Chair Wille and Committee Members,
I support Bill 318 protecting Hawaii's reef wildlife from harmful
aquarium trade starvation and insufficient water volume during
shipping.
It is a shame that there has to be a law for humane treatment but it
is obvious that this bill is needed. We need to protect our fragile
coast line. If for no other reason, tourists come to Hawaii for our
pristine waters. The practice is to over fish to make up for the
percentage of fish that die. We are allowing depletion of one of our
greatest assets. I wish aquarium fishing was banned completely but
short of that at least make sure the fish that are taken are treated
humanely. Thank you
