My message to the Committee:
Aloha Chair Wille and Committee Members,
I support Bill 318 protecting Hawaii's reef wildlife from harmful
aquarium trade starvation and insufficient water volume during
shipping.
Over the 32 years on Big Island, I've seen with my own eyes the
depletion of Hawaii's reef fish and a degradation of the reef
itself.
With the absence of our inshore biodiversity and the mounting
stressors such as climate change, marine debris & pollution are
creating a serious break down of this ecosystem. I've noticed huge
schools of black "pilau fish" coming in taking the place of what was
once Hawaii's reef fish.
This "AQ business plan " is horribly unsustainable.
I'm a swimmer, a paddler And a lover of Mother Ocean
Mahalo for the opportunity!
