RESOLUTION NO. 33 :15
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF TWENTY FIVE
(25) FORTY (40) FOOT SHIPPING CONTAINERS FROM MATSON
WHEREAS, Matson is donating twenty five (25) forty (40) foot shipping
containers, each with an estimated value of $1,000, to the Hawaii County Civil
Defense Agency; and
WHEREAS, the containers will be used by County departments and certain
nonprofit organizations for emergency storage during times of disaster; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Civil Defense Agency recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Matson, ATTN: Russell J. Chin, District Manager, Hawaii Island,
460 Kilauea Avenue, Suite 104, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous
donation.
