RESOLUTION NO. 36 15
RESOLUTION CREATING A SUPERVISING DEPUTY PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY POSITION (TEMPORARY) FOR THE OFFICE OF THE
PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
WHEREAS, Ordinance 14-137, was approved on December 11, 2014,
authorizing the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to appropriate funds from the FY2013
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to create and implement a
Specialized Sexual Assault Unit; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney wishes to establish a
Supervising Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (Temporary) position funded by this grant, to
oversee their Specialized Sexual Assault Unit; and
WHEREAS, this position will be located in Hilo to coordinate sexual assault
cases island -wide; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that
the Mayor has the power to "Create positions, including position of deputy or assistant
to each head of an agency where such a position has not been created by this charter,
for which appropriations have been made by the council and abolish positions with the
consent of the Council."; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`l that a
Supervising Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (Temporary) position be created.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Departments of Finance, Human Resources, and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
