X32 00 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS TO SUBSIDIZE TRANSPORTATION COSTS OF TWELVE REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE WAIAKEA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL UKULELE BAND FOR ASISTER-CITY VISITATION TO JAPAN. WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has established and maintained a long- standing sister-city relationship with Hawai-Cho, Japan; and WHEREAS, in late July (July 22-25, 2000) asister-city visit to Hawai-Cho, Japan, and possibly Ikaho-Machi, Japan is being scheduled; and WHEREAS, the travel contingent will be composed of members of the County's administration, the Hawaii County Council, the Hawaii Island Japanese Chamber of Commerce and twelve representatives of the Waiakea Intermediate School Ukulele Band; and WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii would like to subsidize some of the Band's travel costs by a contribution of seven thousand five hundred dollazs ($7,500); and WHEREAS, the balance of the travel funds for the Ukulele Band would come from private or community resources or through fundraisers; and WHEREAS, funds aze available in the County Council's Miscellaneous Contractual Services account (010-101-5101.02-115). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) be paid to the Waiakea Intermediate School Ukulele Band for travel expenses to Hawai-Cho, Japan in July 2000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Office of the Mayor, the Department of Finance, the County Clerk, and the Waiakea Intermediate School iJkulele Band.
