HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 234 Draft 02 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 234 00 (DRAFT 2) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE BY NEGOTIATION OF THREE (3) COTTAGES AT KOHALA HIGH AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, KOHALA, HAWAII, COUNTY AND STATE OF HAWAII, TMK NO. (3) 5-4-07:08 WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-111, of the Hawaii County Code provides that the County Council may, by resolution approved by a majority of its members, dispose of real property; and WHEREAS, the County Council adopted resolution 197-94 on May 11, 1994 to dispose the cottages through public auction; and WHEREAS, the Department of Finance held a public auction on July 7, 1994, but was unable to attract any bidders due to the high cost of insurance and environmental concerns; and WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works estimates the cost of demolishing each cottage at $25,000.00; and WHEREAS, Catherine Morgan is offering to purchase the three (3) cottages for $25.00 and assume all costs and risk involving the removal; and WHEREAS, for all the foregoing reasons, the public interest demands that the real property needs to be disposed of through negotiation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-114 of the Hawaii County Code that the County of Hawaii authorizes the disposition by negotiation of the three (3) cottages. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmits copies of this resolution to Catherine Morgan and Harry A. Takahashi, Director of Finance.
