hi
My message to the Committee: Aloha Chair Wille and Committee Members,
I support Bill 318 protecting Hawaii's reef wildlife from harmful
aquarium trade starvation and insufficient water volume during
shipping.
i've lived in hawaii for 20 years. i love our ocean - i kayak,
snorkel, play in the surf i know how fragile coral reefs
are. many are dying all over the world. with all the threats
these guys face, from pollution to ocean acidification to
invasive species to ecosystem out of balance to excessive
run-off, do we really need to throw one more thing at
them ? our reefs are important for tourism. is the
aquarium trade ? what do the kama'aina get from this
business ? only shame that our state won't do better.
why don't we be better than the others ? when their
reefs are dead, ours will be even more precious. think
down the aquarium road.
gibby
Mahalo for the opportunity!
