Dear Council members,
I have been totally against the collecting of marine creatures for Aquarium sales from even before returning to
Hawaii. Any form of taking of fish form their natural habitat is against nature and should be against the law. People in the
old days fished to feed their family, not sell them to aquariums for profit. It's bad enough that our reefs are being
destroyed by careless individuals but many of our beautiful fishes are stolen from their homes, put into bags and shipped
off to who know where. most do not survive the trauma of the whole ordeal. those that do end up in private homes or
offices just as pets or ornaments. This whole practice should be banned. just because man has the ability to do
something, it does not make it right. What about the rights of the fishes? Aren't we all creations of God? Man kind will
end up paying the price of his cruelty. Maybe even sooner than later.
Sincerely,
Colleen Miyose-Wallis
