Murashige, Laura From: hawaii@reefrescueaIliance.org Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 11:31 AM To: Council Testimony Subject: Hawaii County AWESC Bill 318 in SUPPORT ENNOW From: reeftime host.advancedconfucius.net On Behalf Of Testimony Submittal <sshrineri@yahoo.com> Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2014 11:03 AM To: octopus(a)maui.net Subject: Hawaii County AWESC Bill 318 in SUPPORT I support Bill 318 protecting Hawaii's reef wildlife from harmful aquarium trade starvation and insufficient water volume during shipping. In the 25 years that I have been swimming in Honaunau Bay and other Big Island waters, I have watched the fish population plummet. What used to be a sea of color, cascading over coral has now declined to just a brief flash. It is disheartening to watch the lights in the bay at night as the aquarium trade literally vacuums up our beautiful legacy. Especially disheartening because most of those fish die in transit. Just because someone on the mainland desires a saltwater fish tank, does not mean that our island must provide the fish. I would prefer an end to the trade entirely. But this bill is a good first step. Thank you for supporting it. Suzanne Shriner Mahalo for the opportunity! I Comm. o X14 Fief. To: L Ref. ©tete NV 18 2014
