Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawai'i Game
Management Advisory Commission. They were both confirmed as members to this to this
commission for two -year terms that ended on December 31, 2014. Hawai'i County Charter
Section 134(c), states that "members of any board or commission appointed for a term of two
years or less shall be eligible to succeed themselves for an additional full term."
District 3 Anthony H. Sylvester II — Mr. Sylvester is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is
employed by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory VLBA as a systems specialist.
Mr. Sylvester states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
District 8 Mark C. Bartell — Mr. Bartell is a 25 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is a self -
employed farmer and charter fisherman. Mr. Bartell states that he is a Republican.
If confirmed, both nominees will serve terms to expire on December 31, 2019. If you have any

Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Energy Sustainability to the full Council
for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to the Committee on Agriculture, Water, and Energy Sustainability for
placement on its future agenda.
