A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR HAWAII ISLAND HUMANE SOCIETY'S
ANIMAL COMMUNITY CENTER.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island Humane Society (HIHS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, and its mission is to provide shelter for animals that are homeless, injured, lost, or
abandoned;and
WHEREAS, HIHS also provides animal adoptions, education programs, and promotes
the Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, HIHS is contracted by the Hawaii County Police Department to investigate
and resolve animal -related complaints and to enforce animal control laws; and
WHEREAS, HIHS has built the Animal Community Center in Keauhou to expand and
improve its services to animals and the community, and HIHS is requesting funds to pay for
landscaping and rock walls at the entrance of this new facility; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Police Department to provide funds to Hawaii Island Humane Society for
landscaping and rock walls at the Animal Community Center in Keauhou; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and the Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
