JNtVIOs N�� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII �• <br />HT1 GF•N�,� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />68 1V <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE TO PASS SENATE <br />BILL NO. 316 AND HOUSE BILL NO. 1165 TO HELP VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC <br />ABUSE. <br />WHEREAS, under current law, the Crime Victims Compensation Fund provides <br />compensation to victims of violent crimes for their crime -related injuries and losses. and to good <br />Samaritans for injuries or property damage suffered in the prevention of a crime or apprehension <br />of a criminal; and <br />WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 316 and House Bill No. 1165 ensure adequate funding in <br />the Crime Victims Compensation Fund by removing the courts option to waive the Crime Victim <br />Compensation Fee in cases where the court finds the defendant unable to pay; and <br />WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 316 and House Bill No. 1165 will allow for the easing of <br />pain and emotional distress by providing compensation to families devastated by crimes <br />including domestic abuse; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />Hawaii State Legislature is urged to pass Senate Bill No. 316 and House Bill No. 1165 to help <br />victims of domestic abuse. <br />
